2011 Voices of the (603) Program

  2011 Program!!!

--About the Festival--

PRESS RELEASE HERE!!! UNH Manchester’s a cappella group, Milling Around, is hosting an a cappella competition, concert and educational clinics for New Hampshire middle and high school students, -- Voices of (603). It is our hope that by providing this opportunity to the choruses across the state, the love for vocal music will flourish.  The day-long program will provide opportunities for performance and networking between students, teachers, and schools.

The program will consist of two segments. The first part of the day is at the University of New Hampshire at Manchester, located in Manchester’s historic millyard. At the UNH Manchester campus we will host clinics for the students and their teachers on topics such as audition anxiety, rehearsal techniques and stage presence and Beatboxing 101. More information on our clinics is available here.

The program, along with the students and teachers and presenters, will move to the historic Currier Museum of Art for the remainder of the day. At the Currier the students will receive a free tour, visit the BackStage Pass exhibit and perform in a public concert where a 2011 NH schools a cappella champion will be recognized and celebrated.

The festival starts at 10 a.m. at the University of New Hampshire at Manchester. Clinics range in variety from Beatboxing to arranging. Students and teachers will learn concepts about a cappella that will enchance their future performances.

After the clinics the students will then move over to the Currier Museum of Art where they will be provided with a tour of the museum and view the BackStage Pass exhibit. Students will begin sound checks and get ready for their performance.

Starting at 6:30 p.m. the schools will present a concert that is sure to have you feeling the music! All of the students will be performing a large group number: Rock and Roll: A Medley. During the intermission of the concert, all concert attendees are invited to view the museum on a self-guided tour. All funds from the ticket sales will go to support Arts advocacy through the group New Hampshire Citizens for the Arts.
